Prof. MEHMET SAFA YEPREM

Prof.Yeprem is working as an academician at Marmara University, Faculty of Theology, Department of Islamic History and Arts - Turkish Religious Music. He was born in 1974. He began playing guitar with Reha Yeprem in 1983. Prof.Yeprem studied harmony, counterpoint and composition with Ozcan Ozbek, Cenan Akin, and Server Acim. He received his Phd. from Marmara University Social Science Institute in Theology and Musichology, a masters degree from Marmara University Science Institute in Guitar Education. His scientific studies are in the field of “The Art of Flamenco and History”,"Flamenco forms and usage in the guitar education" , “Cultural origins of Andalucia”, " Turkish Mosque Music and Non-Muslim Congregations Temple Musics", “Modal Structures and Chord Patterns in the guitar art and Improvisation”,“Music Education Programs” He has performed many recitals in Turkey, Germany ,France and USA. Prof.Yeprem is well established and has conducted numerous chamber music ensembles at music schools in Istanbul and Kocaeli/Turkey. He has many compositions, arrangements and transcriptions for classical and flamenco guitar, chamber orchestras. Some of his compositions and arrangements are published and available.
