M. Sami Okumus (Ph.D. in television, docent in cinema) graduated from Istanbul Bilgi University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations. He completed his master's degree at Marmara University, Faculty of Communication, Radio Television and Cinema Department, and his doctorate in the same department. As of 2017, he has continued his academic and administrative duties as a faculty member at Marmara University, and he works on cinema and documentary films as a producer and director.

His research interests include Turkish cinema, literary adaptations, film analysis, TV series, historical series, film production and management, script writing and film editing, Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), and documentary films.
