Türk televizyon kanallarında ve sinemalarda yayınlanan uyarlama film ve dizilerin her dönem tercih edilen popüler bir tüketim metası olarak ele alınıyor olması bu çalışmanın temelini oluşturmaktadır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda hazırlanan çalışma, 2016’da Marmara Üniversitesi, Radyo Televizyon ve Sinema anabilim dalında tamamlanan yüksek lisans tezine dayanmaktadır ve Türk Sineması’nın en önemli örneklerinden olan Vurun Kahpeye romanının ve filmlerinin tarihsel bir analizini içermektedir.
Cumhuriyet sonrası dönemde, Türk devletinin seküler toplum anlayışı ve bu anlayışın sinemaya yansımalarına bakmak üzere çıkılan bu yolda, konunun derin- liği, hassasiyeti ve önemi açısından dikkatli bir yol izlenmeye çalışılarak, araştır- manın; sinema çerçevesinden tarih çerçevesine kaymamasına özen gösterilmiştir. Bu hassasiyetle, Cumhuriyet döneminin ilk yıllarında ele alınan modernizm ve sekülarizm kavramlarının topluma olan tezahürleri kısmı daha sonra başka bir ça- lışmada ele alınmak üzere tehir edilmiştir.
Dinî kavram ve söylemleri en uç noktalarda temsil etmesi açısından, literatürde hem olumlu hem de olumsuz örnekler yansıtan bir film arayışı sonunda, ülkede her kesimden insanın, filmin ismini duyduğunda bir fikir sahibi olduğuna şahit olunan Vurun Kahpeye film(ler)i üzerinden çalışmaya devam edilmiştir. Kuşkusuz bu kararın verilmesindeki en önemli sebep, filmin farklı dönemlerde, aynı yapım şirketi tarafından üç kez beyazperdeye uyarlanmış olması, dönemsel olarak değişimlerin görülmesi açısından da eşsiz bilgiler içermesinden kaynaklanmaktadır.
Türk Sineması’nda popüler film üretimine dair değişimlerin; filmi üretenler, seyirci beklentisi ve yaşanan gündelik hayatın getirdiği bağlamsal hassasiyetler ve dinamikler çerçevesinde ele alınması önemlidir.
Bu çalışmada, Türk Sineması’nda yirmi dört sene içinde üç kez yinelenen ve aynı yapım şirketi tarafından (Erman Film) gerçekleştirilen Vurun Kahpeye (1949, 1964, 1973) filmleri, popüler bir uyarlama ve kültürel bir metin olarak üretildiği dönemlerdeki politik, ekonomik, tarihsel ve sinema sektörü içindeki yerinin yanı sıra anlatısındaki değişimler bağlamında değerlendirilmiştir.
Bu amaçla Vurun Kahpeye filmlerinin üretilme süreci içindeki kendine özgü yapım ve gösterim koşullarıyla birlikte, seyircinin popüler sinemadan beklentilerini yeniden düşünerek gözden geçirmek bakımından anlamlıdır. Ele alınan filmlerdeki karakter temsillerine, olay örgüsüne, dinî, kültürel ve ideolojik kimi göstergelere daha yakından bakarak aynı zamanda bu popüler metnin içindeki değişimleri ve farklılıkları anlatı boyutunda görmek de mümkündür.
The fact that adaptation films and series broadcasted on Turkish television channels and cinemas are treated as a popular consumption commodity preferred in every period constitutes the basis of this study. This study is based on the master's thesis completed in 2016 at Marmara University, Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, and includes a historical analysis of the novel Vurun Kahpeye and its films, which are among the most important examples of Turkish Cinema. In this path, which was set out to look at the Turkish state's understanding of the secular society in the post-Republican period and its reflections on cinema, a careful path was tried to be followed in terms of the depth, sensitivity, and importance of the subject, and care was taken not to shift the research from the framework of cinema to the framework of history. With this sensitivity, the manifestations of modernism and secularism in society in the early years of the Republican era have been postponed to be dealt with in another study. At the end of the search for a movie that reflects both positive and negative examples in the literature in terms of representing religious concepts and discourses at their most extreme points, the study continued with the movie(s) Vurun Kahpeye, which witnessed that people from all walks of life in the country have an opinion when they hear the name of the movie. Undoubtedly, the most important reason for this decision is the fact that the movie was adapted to the big screen three times by the same production company in different periods and that it contains unique information in terms of periodic changes. It is important to examine the changes in the production of popular films in Turkish Cinema within the framework of the contextual sensitivities and dynamics brought about by the filmmakers, audience expectations, and daily life. In this study, Vurun Kahpeye (1949, 1964, 1973), which was repeated three times in twenty-four years in Turkish Cinema and produced by the same production company (Erman Film), is evaluated in the context of its place in the political, economic, historical and film industry during the periods when it was produced as a popular adaptation and a cultural text, as well as the changes in its narrative. For this purpose, it is meaningful to rethink and review the audience's expectations of popular cinema and the unique production and screening conditions during the production process of Vurun Kahpeye films. By taking a closer look at the character representations, plot, religious, cultural, and ideological indicators in the analyzed films, it is also possible to see the changes and differences in this popular text in the narrative dimension.
