Yaşar BİRBİR was born in Edirne in 1956. After graduating from Izmit Technical High School Electricity Department in 1975, he started his undergraduate education in Gazi University Technical Education Faculty Electricity Education Department and graduated in 1979. In 1980-1981, he worked for two years Rize Industrial Vocational High School Electricity Department as Technical Teacher . In 1982-1983, he worked as a lecturer at Trakya University Edirne Technical Sciences Vocational School Electricity Department for two years. In 1984, he completed his graduate education program in Marmara University, Institute of Science, Electric-Electronics Education. In 1990, he studied in Indiana and Purdue Universities in the USA for nine months within the scope of YÖK-World Bank Project "Technical Teacher Training Program". He was a visiting researcher at Drexel University in USA for fifteen months between 1992-1993. He worked as a lecturer in the Department of Electrical Education between 1988-1998. In 1999, he completed his doctorate education in Marmara University, Institute of Science, Department of Electrical Education and was appointed as Assistant Professor in the same year. Until 2010, he continued to teach as Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical Education at the Faculty of Technical Education. He received the Associate Professor Certificate from ÜAK in April 2010, and was appointed to the position of Associate Professor at the Faculty of Technology, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in May 2011. After completing the Engineering Completion Law for Technical Teachers, he received the Engineering authority. He was appointed to the position of Professor in the same department in May 2016. He still continues to work as the head of the Department of Electrical Machines.
