Assoc. Prof. HABİB TEKİN

Biography

Habib Tekin was born in Mainz, Germany, and spent most of his life in Germany. He graduated from Max-Beckmann-High School in Frankfurt (Germany) in 2009. In the same year, Tekin enrolled in the Double Major Undergraduate and Postgraduate Program at Mannheim University and Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg. In this context, he took German and English Philology courses, completed his pedagogical formation at Pädagogische Hochschule Heidelberg. After successfully completing the state exam organized by the Federal State, he graduated as an high school teacher for German and English by the Karlsruhe State Teachers' Examination Department. In 2010, he was in Brighton and London (England) to improve his English language skills, and in Strasbourg (France) to improve his French language skills. He received scholarships from the START-Foundation between 2004-2009, from the Federal German State between 2009-2016 and from the University of Mannheim (DAAD) in 2020. Between 2018-2021, he worked within the scope of the project supporting his doctoral thesis by Marmara University (BAPKO), and also has been involved as a researcher in the TÜBİTAK 1001 project since 2022.

Tekin defended his dissertation on "Images of Anti-Semitism in the Works of Jakob Wassermann" at the University of Marmara, Department for German Language and Literature in April 2021. He still works as an Associate Professor at the Marmara University, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of German Language and Literature. Tekin is bilingual in Turkish and German, fluent in English and in French and Latin at an intermediate level.
