Biography
Selda Yiğit Hunce is a Lecturer at the Department of Environmental Engineering, Marmara University, Istanbul, Turkey. She received her Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Marmara University in 2017. Her research interests include granular filtration, water and wastewater treatment processes, and energy recovery from biomass.
Following her doctorate, she was awarded a TÜBİTAK Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and conducted research at the Centre for Applied Soil Science and Biology of the Segura (CEBAS-CSIC) in Murcia, Spain, focusing on bioenergy production from biomass resources. Between 2019 and 2022, she worked as a Senior Engineer specializing in environmental technologies at an international EPC company. She later returned to Marmara University, where she currently teaches and continues her research.
Her work, cited over 323 times, emphasizes practical applications in water treatment and sustainable energy. Notable publications include a 2019 study in Water Supply co-authored with Elif Soyer and Ömer Akgiray, where the Ives Filterability Index was used to compare the filtration performance of silica sand and crushed recycled glass. She has also contributed to research on bioenergy production from agricultural and forest residues during her time in Spain. Currently, her research focuses on the removal of microplastics from water using conventional treatment methods, particularly through granular filtration and coagulation-flocculation processes.
