Biography

Born in 1970 in Rize-İkizdere, he completed his primary and secondary education in Üsküdar, Istanbul. In 1987, he enrolled in the Department of Psychology at Boğaziçi University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences and graduated in 1992. Between 1992 and 1996, he worked as a teacher and psychological counselor in various secondary education institutions. In 1996, he joined Marmara University’s Atatürk Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences as a research assistant. He completed his master's degree in 1998 and his doctorate in 2001. At the end of 2005, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in the field of Educational Psychology. From 2006 to 2011, he worked as an associate professor in the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling at Marmara University’s Atatürk Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences. In 2011, he was awarded the title of Professor and continues his academic career as a faculty member at the same university.

Since 2011, he has been working as a professor at Marmara University’s Atatürk Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Sciences. Between 2006 and 2011, he served as an associate professor, and from 1996 to 2006, he worked as a research assistant in academia.

To date, he has published more than two hundred academic articles, with more than a hundred indexed in international databases such as SSCI and SCOPUS. He has presented over a hundred international conference papers, authored dozens of books and book chapters, and published numerous studies in various national and international journals. He has led multiple TÜBİTAK and university-supported research projects and supervised numerous graduate theses.

He has received several academic awards, including the Marmara University Project and Publication Award (2021). He has participated in research projects supported by TÜBİTAK and the Ministry of Development and received international research fellowships from Germany in 2004 and 2008. He has also participated in Erasmus teaching mobility programs and similar initiatives in several countries, including Spain, Germany, Denmark, Lithuania, and the Czech Republic.
