Duygu Karabayraktar was born in Ankara in 1983. She completed her primary and secondary education in İzmir. After she graduated from İzmir Saint Joseph High School, she moved to İstanbul. She graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts Cinema and Television Department with her short film “The Last Pedestrian” and ranked second. Whilst studying at Marmara University Institute of Fine Arts in Cinema and Television master programme, she participated in many projects as production designer. In 2009 she began to work as a research assistant at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts Cinema and Television Department. She completed her master's degree with a short film and a work titled of Fantastic Cinema and Visual Effects “A Piece of Wood”. In 2017, she received her Doctorate of Arts Degree at Marmara University Institute of Fine Arts major of Cinema and Television with her thesis "Kuz" Creating Female Character in Fantastic Genre. Duygu Karabayraktar currently works on her film projects and serves in Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts Film Design Department, giving courses on directing and editing.
