Assoc. Dr. Süheyla Nil Mustafa received her Associate Professorship in the field of Communication Sciences in 2023. She is an advisory board member of Global Communication Association, USA.
She wrote her Ph.D. dissertation, “Making of the Ottoman Policemen, 1880-1918” in the Atatürk Institute for Modern Turkish History at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Turkey. She had double-major on Sociology and Political Science in the undergraduate study and completed her Masters in the Department of International Relations and Political Science at Boğaziçi University. She received the Fellowship of Success given by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) during her PhD study. She studied as a guest doctoral candidate at CETOBAC (Centre d'études turques, ottomanes, balkaniques et centrasiatiques) affiliated with EHESS (L'Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales) in Paris within the scope of the Erasmus Student Exchange Program throughout the 2011-2012 Academic Year.
Her scholarly interests are identity, gender, discourse, sociology of
communication and social change. Dr. Süheyla Nil Mustafa works as a lecturer of
the courses mostly in English such as Sociology, Research Methods in Social
Sciences, Communication Theories, Media Literacy and History of Communication
in the Faculty of Communication at Marmara University. She is the co-editor of
the book, Discourse and Identity in Turkish Media published by
Peter Lang Publishing in Germany in June 2021. She also edited two books titled
Reflections from the Turkish Screen and Global Screen and Culture
published by Kriter Publishing House in 2022.
