Biography
Born in 1973 (İstanbul), graduated from the Faculty
of Theology in Marmara University (İstanbul, 1995). He was formerly a
researcher at the Turkish Religious Foundation, Center for Islamic Studies (TDV
ISAM). He engaged in language and area studies in Tunisia and the UK as a
visiting scholar. He is currently Professor at Marmara University, Faculty of
Theology, Department of Islamic mysticism. His main academic interests are the
Intellectual history of Islamic mysticism, Ottoman mystical philosophy,
established sufi orders in Turkey, sufi thought in modern Turkey. He has a
number of publications on the history of tasawwuf.
