Prof. SELÇUK YÜCEL

Biography

An adult and pediatric urologist in Turkey with 2-year research and 1-year clinical fellowship in US ACGME accredited program. Dedicated pediatric and transitional urologist with 15-years of experience in direct patient care, basic and clinical research, training fellows, residents and med students as the chief of pediatric urology. Interest in reconstructive urology, neuro-urology and urodynamics in children and transitional age. Experience on penile surgery, urethroplasty and urologic workup and complication management for  pediatric and adult renal transplantation. Research interest in novel device (glass sphere for bladder injection, photometric device for easy testicular torsion diagnosis, telecentric lens for microsurgery)  and biomarkers (urinary neurotransmitters) development in urology by coordination with biophysics, lab and technology departments. One of the leading faculty to obtain the title of “Certified Urology Residency Program by European Board of Urology  (EBU)” in Akdeniz University in 2007 and Marmara University in 2020. Author of over 50 articles in international peer-reviewed journals. Investigator in research projects granted by national and international foundations. Children’s committee member for two periods (2013-2016, 2016-2019) in ICS. Member of Committee of Turkish Medical Postgraduate Education since April 2021. Active organizing member of Turkish Urological Society meetings since 2012. Proud to have trained many residents choosing to move into academic urology. Directed a private hospital urology department with an active international patient service mostly funded with non-profit foundations  between 2013-2018. Now acting as the faculty in urology and chief of pediatric urology in Marmara University Hospital in Istanbul.
