Biography

Erdal Yılmaz received a BA in Philosophy from Istanbul University in 2004 and an MA in Philosophy from Galatasaray University in 2009, with his thesis titled “Les Fondements Métaphysiques de la Liberté chez Leibniz”. In 2017, he received a PhD in Philosophy, completing the program under the joint tutelage of Galatasaray University and Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne University. His thesis is titled “L’ Historicité du Monde chez Hegel et Heidegger”. His research interests include Modern Continental Philosophy (Descartes, Spinoza, Leibniz, and Kant), German Idealism (Kant-Hegel), Phenomenology (Husserl-Heidegger), Hermeneutics (Gadamer), Metaphysics, Ethics, Philosophy of Technology, Philosophy of Time and History, and the Concept of the World and Globalization. With reference to these areas of study, he has published a variety of books, articles and critical reviews. Between the years of 2009-2020, he served as a faculty member in the Philosophy Program at Istanbul Şehir University. Additionally, he held the positions of MA Philosophy Program Coordinator and Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences Advisor at Istanbul Şehir University. Currently, he serves as a faculty member in the Philosophy Program at Marmara University.
