Tarık Emre Şener graduated from Istanbul Saint-Joseph Private French High School in 2004.
He completed his medical education in Marmara University School of Medicine between 2004-2010. During his medical education, he completed a 1-month research fellowship in Marmara University School of Medicine, Department of Anatomy in 2005; a 1-month research fellowship in Centre Chirurgicale Marie Lannelongue Hospital, Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery and Cardiology departments in Paris, France in 2007; and a 1-month research fellowship at the University of South Carolina in the Departments of Endocrinology, Rheumatology and Nephrology, USA in 2008.
Between 2011-2016, he completed his residency in urology at Marmara University School of Medicine, Department of Urology. During his residency, he completed a clinical fellowship in Paris, France, Pierre & Marie Curie University, Tenon University Hospital between November 2014 and February 2015, with the “European Urology Scholarship Program (EUSP)” scholarship. He was trained in the medical and surgical management of Endourology and Stone Diseases, under the mentorship of Professor Olivier Traxer.
Between 2016 and 2020, he worked as a urologist at the Ministry of Health Marmara University Pendik Training and Research Hospital, Urology Clinic. In 2020, he was certified as an Assistant Professor in Marmara University, School of Medicine, Department of Urology.
In his clinical practice, he is interested in the medical and surgical tretment of stone diseases, medical and surgical treatments of bladder and prostate diseases and surgical treatment of kidney tumors. He performs a wide range of operations such as minimally invasive urological procedures on urinary stones (Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), flexible and semirigid ureteroscopy (fURS & sURS)); open and laparoscopic kidney, bladder and prostate surgeries; minimally invasive procedures for benign prostatic hyperplasia (TURP, HoLEP, BipolEP); minimally invasive procedures of bladder tumors (TURM, en-bloc enucleation / resection).
He has authored many publications and performed various presentations in the fields of endourology, pediatric urology, pharmacology and physiology, both during his education at the medical school, during his specialty training and also as a certified urologist. After his residency training, he continued his scientific studies especially on urinary system stone diseases as a urologist, published many articles in national and international journals; presented many papers and delivered many lectures in various international meetings such as European Association of Urology (EAU), American Urological Association (AUA), World Congress of Endourology (WCE), Trans-Atlantic Leaders in Endourological Technologies (TALENTS), Challenges in Endourology, URO Berlin Skills Teaching and Training (UROBESTT).
In 2017, he successfully completed the written and oral examinations of the “European Board of Urology” and earned the title of “Fellow of European Board of Urology (FEBU)”.
He is one of the founding members of the “Progress in Endourology, Technology and Research Association (PETRA) Urogroup”, an international working group in the fields of urolithiasis and endourology.
He is a member of the “Young Academic Urologists (YAU), Endourology and Urolithiasis Working Party” working group affiliated to the “Young Urologists Office (YUO)”, a sub-structure of the European Association of Urology (EAU).
He is a member of international associations European Association Urology (EAU) and Endourological Society; as well as national associations Society of Urological Surgery, Minimal Invasive Urology Association and Urooncology Association.
Currently, he works in Marmara University, School of Medicine, Department of Urology, in the Marmara University Pendik Training and Research Hospital campus.
