Dr. Öğr. Üyesi BARIŞ CİHAN CANTÜRK

Dr.iur. Barış C. CANTÜRK is an Assistant Professor of Information and Technology Law at Marmara University Faculty of Law. He is the founder & director of the Future Finance Law Hub, an NGO whose incubation was kindly supported through the Friedrich Schiedel Fellowship hosted at the TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology and the TUM Think Tank.

His academic focus lies on Future Finance Law, which encompasses the intersection of IT Law, Company Law, and Digitalization and Regulation. He has over eight years of professional experience as a research and teaching assistant, attorney at law, and legal counsel. In addition, he has authored several pioneering international publications, including a book, peer-reviewed articles, and symposium proceedings.

He completed his LL.B. and LL.M. degrees at Bahçeşehir University (Türkiye) as valedictorian with a full merit scholarship. He began his doctoral studies at Galatasaray University (Türkiye). Dr. iur. Cantürk was awarded the title of Doctor of Law (doctor iuris) at Leipzig University Faculty of Law with the distinction magna cum laude for his dissertation entitled “The Future of Company Law: Decentralized Autonomous Organization – The Existing Legal Wrappers and a New Form Recommendation”, supervised by Prof. Dr. Boris P. Paal, M.Jur. (Oxford).

Throughout his academic journey, he has been honoured with multiple awards, scholarships, and fellowships from prestigious institutions such as the Prime Ministry of Türkiye, the Ministry of National Education of Türkiye, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye, the German Academic Exchange Service, and the Friedrich Schiedel Foundation.
