Ali Ari is a Professor of Economics at Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Marmara University (Turkey). Before joining Marmara University, Dr. Ari served as the Director of the Center for European Studies and the Chair of Department of Economics at Kirklareli University (Turkey). He was a visiting scholar at Rice University in 2018 and also gave lectures as a visiting professor at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev (Ukraine), University of Debrecen (Hungary), Medipol University, and Yeditepe University (Turkey). He received his BA in Politics in 2002 from Marmara University, both his MA (2003) and his PhD (2009) in Economics from Toulon University (France).
His main research interests are in financial crises, international economics, energy-environment, Turkish economy, topics on which he published in international journals. He also has four published books. Dr. Ari is Editor-in-Chief of Oneri and Journal of Political Science. Dr. Ari currently serves as the Director of French Program of Political Science, the Director of Research Center on France-Turkey, and the Vice-Director of Graduate School in Social Sciences.
