Prof. Dr. ALAEDDİN YALÇINKAYA

Alaeddin Yalçınkaya was born in Elazığ in 1961. He graduated from Adapazarı Ozanlar High School and the Faculty of Political Sciences at Istanbul University. Between 1987 and 1996, he worked at the Prime Ministry General Directorate of State Archives. He completed his master's degree in 1990 at the Istanbul University Department of Political Science and International Relations with a thesis titled "Jamal al-Din al-Afghani and His Influences on Turkish Political Life," and his doctorate in 1995 with a thesis titled "Turkistan in the Light of Colonialism and Pan-Islamism." From 1993 to 1994, he conducted research as a visiting scholar at the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at New York University. Yalçınkaya became an Assistant Professor at Sakarya University in 1996, an Associate Professor in 2000, and a Professor in 2007; he has been a faculty member at the Marmara University Faculty of Political Sciences since 2013. He has numerous published works, including articles in international peer-reviewed journals and papers presented at scientific conferences. Some of his published books are titled "A Seventy-Year Crisis: Moscow-Turkic Relations in the Soviet Union," "From Almaty to Akmola: The Capital of Kazakhstan," "Turkic Republics and Oil Pipelines," and "From Ethnic Knots to a Global Deadlock: Political Developments in the Caucasus." Yalçınkaya has taught and continues to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, covering subjects such as International Relations, International Law, International Organizations, Diplomatic Correspondence Techniques, Regional Foreign Policy, the Turkic World and the Caucasus, and Human Rights Law at Sakarya, Kocaeli, Bahçeşehir, and Marmara universities, as well as at the Istanbul Şükrü Balcı Police Vocational School. He is the organizer and general coordinator of the International Blue Black Sea Congress, which is holding its ninth edition in 2026; he is married and a father of two.
