Özet:Bu tezin ele aldığı konu mekâna özgü heykellerle oluşturulmuş heykel parklarıdır. Bu tez kapsamında yapılan araştırmada heykel ve çevre ilişkisi mekân, yer, bağlam kavramları üzerinde durularak incelenmiş ve mekâna özgü heykellerle kurulan heykel parklarının kuruluş ilkeleri, sanatçılar ile park yöneticileri ve küratörler arasında kurulan ilişki incelenmiştir. Bu parkları araştırırken park yöneticileri ve küratörlerle görüşmeler yapılmış, kimi örnekler üzerinde yerinde etüdler yapılmıştır. Mekâna özgü heykel 1970’li yılların sonundan itibaren heykel parklarının oluşumuna temel oluşturmuş ve bu kapsamda üretilen yapıtlar insan ve kentsel alan, insan ve doğa arasında daha köklü ilişkiler kurulması için yeni açılımlar ortaya koymuştur. Bu tezin amacı bu yeni alanın incelenmesi ve günümüz açık alan heykelinin yer’i ile girdiği ilişkinin araştırılması olmuştur. Mekâna özgü heykel bağlamında kurulmuş heykel parklarında gerçekleştirilen mekâna özgü yapıtlar fiziksel bağlamı yanı sıra anlam bağlamı ile yere bağlanır ve bu yer dışında bir yere taşındığında anlam kaymasına uğrar. Mekâna özgü heykel bağlamında kurulan heykel parklarına davet edilen sanatçılar kendilerine verilen ya da seçtikleri mekânın tarihsel süreçler içinde ürettiği kültürel değerleri ve sosyal ilişkileri bir bütün olarak ele alarak bu parkların mekânları için yapıt üretmişlerdir. Böylece parkların bulunduğu bölgenin fiziksel, kültürel yapısı burada gerçekleştirilen yapıtların oluşum sürecine dâhil olarak yapıtın bir parçası haline gelmiştir. Sanatçı ile kurulan bu yeni ilişki yöntemi alışıldık sanat kurumlarının ve müzelerin işleyişi açısından bir farklılaşma yaratmış ve yeni bir model oluşturmuştur. Ayrıca mekâna özgü heykel bağlamında kurulmuş heykel parkları çevre ve mekân üzerine araştırmalar yaparak seçilen bölgenin tarihsel kimliğinin araştırılmasında, bölgede yaşayanların mekân bilincinin oluşturulmasında rol üstlenmişlerdir. SUMMARY The subject of this thesis is the sculpture parks that have been established with the context of site specific sculpture. Within the extent of this thesis, the relationship between the sculpture and its environment has been studied by focusing on concepts of place, feature and context along with the principles of the sculpture parks that have been established with site specific sculpture, and relationships between the artists, park managers and curators. During the research of these parks, park managers and curators have been interviewed and site surveys have been made on some models. Site specific sculpture have been the base for the foundation of sculpture parks since the end of 1970s and works produced in this context have presented new expansions towards more deep-rooted relations between human and the urban area and human and nature. The purpose of this thesis is to study this new area and research the relationship of today’s open air sculpture with its place. Site specific sculptures in the sculpture parks that have been established with the context of site specific sculpture engage not only in physical context but also with meaning and thus happens a “slip of meaning” when these statues are moved to another place. Artists invited to the parks that have been set up in the context of site specific sculptures address the cultural values and social relations that the place they have been given or chose themselves has as a whole and produce art works for the places of the parks. Thus, the physical and culture structures areas of the parks are included in the process of formation of the art work and have become a part of it. This new relation method with the artist has created a differentiation in terms of the running of the usual institutions of art and museums and has formed a new model. Apart from these, the sculpture parks that have been established context of site specific sculpture, by studying the environment and the place, have taken a role in the research of the historical identity of the selected area and to create place awareness in the population of the area.
