SUMMARY The most apparent connection between the art and life of Beuys is constituted of “that moment.” The artist, who grounds the elements he made use of in his works on an uninterrupted process of alteration, reflects such change upon his own life as well. The visits he made to the lands of Celts, the activities he had flourished and relations and friendships he had established in those lands are a part of his selfdevelopment and progress in his art. Beuys, having admired the Celtic novelist James Joyce and the Celtic mythology since 1950’s, approached to the Celtic culture closer and closer thanks to his activities in Celtic lands from 1970’s on and began to perceive himself as a part of this culture. It is beneficient to consider the works of the artist concerning Celtic culture, how these influences were reflected in his life, works and career in order to conceive how forcible were the effects of the culture had been on Beuys and his arts.
