Özet:

Ahmet Metin ve Şirzad yahut Roman İçinde Roman (1892), Ahmet Midhat Efendi’nin en önemli romanlarından biridir. Bir yolculuk romanı olan Ahmet Metin ve Şirzad’ın konusunu, İstanbul’da başlayıp Sicilya’da biten deniz seyahatinin safhaları oluşturur. Romanın kahramanı Ahmet Metin, tarihî bir romanın Şirzad isimli kahramanının yaşadığı İtalya’nın güneyindeki yerleri görmek için seyahate çıkar. Yolda karşılaştığı Neofari isimli Moldovyalı bir kadın ile bu yolculuğu tamamlar. Ahmet Metin ve Meliketü’l-Bahr yolcularının seyahat güzergâhlarının fizikî-beşerî coğrafya özellikleri romanda yer alır. Bu yerler arasındaki mesafe katedilirken gemi yolcuları arasında değişik durumlu ilişkiler oluşur. Bu ilişkiler de romanın konusuna ayrı bir zenginlik katar. Ahmet Midhat Efendi’nin Ahmet Metin ve Şirzad Romanında Yol Haritası başlıklı tez, hem yolculuk güzergâhlarına dair fizikî-beşerî özelliklerin hem bu mekânlar katedilirken oluşan olayların, aynı zamanda mekân motifleriyle olaylarla ilgili motifler ilişkisinin incelemesine dayanır. ABSTRACT Ahmet Metin and Şirzad or Novel in Novel (1892) is one of the most significant novels of Ahmet Midhat Efendi. Ahmet Metin and Şirzad which is a travel book is about the phases of a voyage which starts in İstanbul and ends in Sicily. Ahmet Metin, the hero of the novel, sets out journey so as to visit the places in the south parts of Italy. Where Şirzad –the hero of the historical novel- once lived. Ahmet Metin completes his journey with a woman named Neofari with whom he meets on the way to Italy. The novel also talks about the physical-humane and geographical aspects of the destinations where Ahmet Metin and Meliketü’l-Bahr’s passangers head into. While the journey lasts, various types of relationships are formed among the passangers on board. These interaetions and relationships enrich the plot of the novel in a different way. The thesis entitled as The Route of Ahmet Metin and Şirzad Novel by Ahmet Midhat Efendi is based not only on the analysis of the physical-humane geographical descriptions of the destinations but also on the events which take place during this journey. The novel is also based on the analysis of the relationship between the patterns of the setting and their connection with the patterns with respect to events.
