Abstract:
Objective: Our aim is to evaluate relationship between CD138, PanRAS, CCL-3, DKK-1 and MUM-1 expression and progression and prognostic parameters of Multiple Myeloma (MM) and Monoclonal Gammopathies of Undetermined Significance (MGUS) cases.
Material and Method: 94 bone marrow biopsies diagnosed as MM and
20 biopsies diagnosed as MGUS between 2011-2018 were included in our study. Biopsies were stained immonohistochemically using; CD138, PanRAS, CCL-3, DKK-1 and MUM-1 antibodies. Results of immunbohistochemical stainings were evaluated semiquantitatively and statistical tests were performed according to those results.
Findings: MM cases showed more expression of Pan-RAS, DKK-1 and MUM-1 than MGUS cases while CCL-3 showed more expression in MGUS cases. CCL-3 expression was higher in -high risk category group than other groups of MGUS according to Mayo Clinic Risk Score Classification.Late ISS and R-ISS stages in MM showed higher CD138 expression.
Conclusion: Significant differences of Pan-RAS, MUM-1, DKK-1 and CCL-3 expression levels in MM and MGUS implies their possible roles in MM-MGUS progression. CCL-3 may also play significant roles in MGUS progression and high CD138 expressions may portent a bad prognosis in MM.
