ABSTRACT AC SERVO STRUCTURE AND CONTROL METHODS ANALYSIS In this study the structure and work algorithm of the AC servo systems that are mostly used in industrial applications recently are explained. There are two types of servo motors depending on the supply voltage. One of them DC servo motors and the other one is AC servo motors. The motion of the DC servo motors are provided by electronic commutator as mechanically. In AC servo systems the motion is provided by drive circuits as electronically. Because of the DC servo motors mechanical request, their costs are higher than AC servo motors. AC servo motors have been used instead of DC servo motors because of the switching technology and low-maintenance cost. Depending on the developments in semi-conductors technology, AC servo systems have high speed switching capability and it makes them more preferable against the DC Servo systems. AC Servo driver can do the switching at stator coils (U-V-W) through feedback components that are directly connected to PM (permanent magnet) rotor shaft used in motor structure. In this operation AC servo system components are described in three sections as motor structure, drive structure and feedback structure. At first the general information about the servo systems are explained and then control algorithm (used in drive circuits) effects over the motor are analyzed. Analyzing the control algorithms make AC servo motors more applicable in industrial field. Depending on the system (control algorithm) variables, the requirements of the mechanical systems can be provided.
