Özet:Bu çalışma timar sisteminin 18. yüzyılın ikinci yarısındaki işleyişini ele almaktadır. 16. yüzyılda toplam devlet gelirlerinin %37’sinin ayrıldığı ve 17. yüzyıldan itibaren dönüşüme uğrayan timarın 18. yüzyıldaki durumu temel çalışma konusudur. Bu doğrultuda İstanbul Ahkâm Defterleri'nde yer alan davalara göre, İstanbul ve çevresinde sistemin uygulanışı, sipahi-köylü ilişkileri, timar topraklarındaki vergiler ve göçler, geçmiş dönemiyle benzerlikler ve farkları incelenmektedir. Birinci bölümde literatür çalışması yapılmış; sistemin muhtevası, işlevi ve dönüşümü tartışılmıştır. İkinci bölümde, Ahkâm Defterleri’ndeki kayıtlarda yer alan davalardan veriler elde edilmiş ve bunlara göre analiz yapılmıştır. ABSTRACT This study aims to investigate the functioning of the timar system in the second half of the 18th century. The main subject of this study is to explain the conditions of the system which had 37 percent of the total revenues in the 16th century and had also started to transform by the 17th century. To this end, this study investigates the implementation of the timar system, relations between the sipahi and peasantry, taxation and immigration as well as similarities and differences between its classical age and the 18th century according to the Istanbul Ahkâm Registers. In chapter one, and the content of the system and its functions as well as its transformation are discussed on the basis of a literature review. In the second chapter, the timar system is then analyzed in regards to these issues according to data acquired from the Ahkâm Registers.
