-------------------- Cyanide, which has been known as the most lethal poison for many years, enters the body by any means, it is dangerous enough to lead to death. In spite of these negativities, there are many methods of analysis in the literature for cyanide, which is highly harmful to the environment and even to human health. To date, studies on cyanide analysis have shown potentiometric measurements, chemical reactions, spectrophotometric and spectrofluorimetric and so on. methods were applied. These methods have some problems such as lost cyanide during distillation or organic complex with organic reagent. İt also leaves the analyst in a difficult position due to some negative aspects such as the need for careful control of the analysis conditions, and the fact that the results are inaccurate. In our study, a polymeric membrane based sensor was developed and used for the first time in the determination of cyanide. The characterization and standardization of the developed sensor has been done and various parameters such as pH, calibration interval, sensitivity and detection limit required for the determination have been systematically investigated. The fluorescence spectrum excitation and emission wavelengths of the developed sensor are 376 nm and 422 nm, respectively. In addition, the response time of the studies carried out at pH 9 is approximately 30 seconds. The detection limit of the developed sensor is lower compared to many other methods in the literature and it is 7,19×10-8 mol L-1.
