Özet:ÖZET Dünyanın her yerinde tartışılan kadın olgusu ve kadının konumu, Ortadoğu toplumunda da önem arz etmektedir. Kadın, çalışma yaşamında Ortadoğu’nun içinde bulunduğu ekonomik, siyasi ve sosyal yapıdan büyük ölçüde etkilenmiştir. İş hayatındaki durumu toplumdan topluma ve zamana göre değişiklik gösterse de kadın, her zaman çalışma hayatının içinde olmuştur. Bazı yaklaşımlara göre kadın, ev içerisindeki işlerden sorumlu tutulmuştur. Kadına öncelikli olarak anne ve eş olma görevleri verilmiştir. Böylece kadın, iş hayatında erkeğe göre ikincil planda kalmıştır. Kadınların toplumdaki yerleri, düşük eğitim seviyeleri, kadınların ikincil piyasalarda çalışmasına neden olmuş ve böylece kadınlar düşük ücretlerle çalışmak zorunda kalmışlardır. Bunun yanı sıra kadınların iş hayatında yükselmelerinin önüne geçilmiştir. Ataerkil sistemin bir sonucu olarak kadının sosyal ve ekonomik anlamda ikincil plana atılması Ortadoğu toplumunda da kendisini son derece yoğun bir şekilde göstermektedir. Erkek egemen bir toplum olan Ortadoğu, kadını ev içine hapsederek, erkeklerin kadınlar üzerindeki tahakkümünü ekonomik alanda da pekiştirmiştir. Ortadoğu kadınının her alanda olduğu gibi iş hayatında da; din, toplumsal cinsiyet, eğitim seviyesi ve Ortadoğu toplumunda önemli bir yere sahip aile kurumu da etkili olmuştur. Birinci bölümde Ortadoğu’da kadının iş hayatındaki yerinin daha iyi anlaşılabilmesi için genel olarak Ortadoğu ülkelerindeki işgücü ve işsizlik gibi kavramlar incelenmiştir. İkinci bölümde ise dünya genelinde kadının çalışma yaşamındaki durumunu anlamlandırabilmek adına kuramlar ve tarihsel süreçte kadın işgücü ve kadın işgücünün özellikleri incelenmiştir. Son bölümde ise Ortadoğu toplumunda kadının iş hayatına katılımını etkileyen faktörler yine Ortadoğu temelli olarak incelenerek bu coğrafyada kadının çalışma yaşamındaki yeri ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. -------------------- ABSTRACT World widely discussed phenomenon of women and the position of women are very important themes also in the Middle East society. Women in Middle East have been greatly influenced by the by the economic, political and social structure of the area. Although the status of the women in work life may change from society to society and century to century, we can surely say that women have always been the part of the work life, somehow. According to some approaches, women have been held responsible for house work and accordingly to that the women have been given two prioritized jobs which are being a mother and a being a wife. Thus, women have been become secondary as to the men in business life. Women's degreeded place in the society, low levels of education caused to them work in secondary markets, and thus they were forced to work at low wages. In addition to that, the Professional rise of the women in business life was prevented by men. As a result of the patriarchal system, women staying in the background when it comes to the social and economic status in life shows itself intensely in the Middle Eastern society. The Middle East, which is a male-dominated society, has imprisoned women in the home and reinforced the domination of men over women in the economic field. Middle East women's business life as well as all the other areas is influenced by religion, gender, education level and the term of “family institution” which has an important place, in the Middle East society. In the first chapter, the terms of such as labor and unemployment are examined in order to understand better the place of the women in the Middle East. In the second part, the theories and the characteristics of the labor force and the female labor force in the historical process are examined in order to make sense of the status of the women in work life all around the world. In the last section, women’s place in work life in the Middle East is explained by the factors affecting the participation of the women in the Middle East society, again based on Middle East.
