COST INFORMATION SYSTEM BASED LOGİSTİCS MANAGEMENT İN THE ENTERPRISES Companies focus on the subjects of reduction of costs and achieving customer satisfaction led logistics come into prominence. Logistics may be focused internally or externally, or both, within a flow extending from supplier to end-user. The main components of logistics management are purchasing, transportation, storage, inventory input, ensuring correct information flow and organization and planning of these activities. Logistics administrators combine this information received from each of these fiınctions, by ensuring the coordination of resources within an organization. Logistics fiındamentally has two distinct foraıs. While the first one ensures the continuity of the material flow throughout the storage and transportation network, the other one coordinates the chain of the resources to complete the projects. The most important cost items of logistics at the enterprises may be classified as; (1) costs of the customer services, (2) costs of keeping stocks, (3) costs of transportation (shipping) (4) costs of storage (5) costs of unit quantity (6) costs of order processing and information flow. These costs are affected by logistics processes at the enterprises. For example, inventory management, packaging and retrospective (reverse) logistics activities closely affect the inventory, transportation and storage costs. Cost concept of the logistics management system is based on the internal relationship between logistics and production cost. Ability of the enterprises managing ali these processes in an effective manner necessitates them to look at the subject of logistics from a strategic point of view. Logistics is an activity carried out in both directions: (1) anticipatorily (2) retrospectively. While the anticipatory logistic activities are carried out towards the consumers, the retrospective logistic activities are carried out towards the suppliers. Logistics shall allow the enterprises, situated in a competitive environment, to be able to focus more intensely on their basic business fiınctions of trading of goods, or engage in the activities of production of goods and service; and shall provide opportunity for the activities such as transportation, storage, selection of the location of the facilities to be carried out by the logistic service providers, and therefore shall allow these costs, which are arisen from these activities, to be measured, controlled and minimized accordingly.
