The aim of the study is to contribute to addressing the issue of home-based work as a whole and highlighting its different aspects. It explores the origin of home-based work tracing back to the outsorcing of orders to households and the past of this form of work in Turkey through its historical roots in Ottoman era. It also lays emphasis on the historical and current problems of home-based workers as well as possible solutions and suggestions for these problems. In the third part of the study, the research techniques and thematic tendencies of the studies were revealed by examining seventeen dissertations that were deemed under the scope of the study. The thematic classification of the studies was made under seven titles and each theme was evaluated separately. Suggestions have been developed to contribute to interpreting home-based study under the perspective of different research methods and themes. The study has found that postgraduate studies related to home-based study display an interdisciplinary approach.
