Grup (Danışman/ Rehber/Bilgi Aktarıcı), 81’ i 2. -------------------- In this study, it has been aimed to investigate epistemological belief levels, teaching style levels of primary school teachers and status of the their epistemological beliefs and teaching styles in terms of various variables, and to determine whether the level of significance of the relationship between epistemological belief and teaching style and epistemological beliefs of teachers are predictors for the teaching styles, or not. For this purpose, the study is a descriptive research conducted using the relational survey model, one of the general screening models. In this research, “Epistemological Belief Scale”, which has developed by Schommer (1990) and validity – reliability studies have been performed by Deryakulu and Büyüköztürk (2002) and “Scale of Grasha Teaching Style”, which has developed by Grasha (1994) and adaptation and translation to Turkish have been performed by Sarıtaş ve Süral (2010) have been used. Moreover, personal information form that has been developed by the researcher has been used. The obtained data were analyzed using the Spss22 program. It has been observed that 242 primary school teachers (146 female, 96 male) working in the European Side of Istanbul participated in the study have naive belief level in the belief dimension that the learning depends on effort, have sophisticated belief level in the belief dimension that the learning depends on ability and have underdeveloped belief level in the belief dimension that there is only single truth. When the teachers were examined in accordance with dominant teaching style, they mostly preferred delegator teaching style. 156, 81, 4 and 1 teachers out of 242 participated in the study have 4th group (Delegator/Facilitator/Expert), 2nd group (Personal/Expert/Formal Authority), 3rd group (Facilitator/Personal/Expert) and 1st group (Expert/Formal Authority) teaching styles, respectively. According to the results of the study, statistically significant differences were found in the epistemological beliefs of primary school teachers with regards to variables of gender, professional seniority, last graduated school type and educational status. In that vein, it was confirmed that statistically no significant difference in the teaching styles of the teachers with regard to the variables of gender, seniority and educational status, however it was determined that the teachers who had the second group teaching style became different significantly in the advisory teaching style according to the type of the school that they graduated. In addition, according to the findings of the research question examining the relationship between epistemological belief and teaching style, it has been determined that there is a positive significant relationship between the belief learning depends on ability and authoritarian teaching style; and there is a statistically significant negative relationship between the belief learning depends on ability and facilitator teaching style. A statistically significant positive correlation was found between the sub-dimension of the belief that there is only single truth and the expert teaching style, formal authority teaching style and personal teaching style. Whilst teachers who believe that learning depends on ability also have authoritarian teaching style; teachers, who have naive belief level in the belief dimension that the learning depends on ability, adopt facilitator teaching style. When the research results are examined, it has been observed that the epistemological belief sub-dimensions are significant predictors of the teaching styles sub-dimensions.
