Abstract

In this study, an important part of home energy management system which is the lighting control investigated depending upon the dimming effect and the electricity grid tariff in Türkiye. Devices for smart lighting solutions are among the most popular smart home products, as lighting uses a significant amount of energy. The use of smart technology in residential energy management, with a particular emphasis on lighting control and its role in energy conservation is investigated. The analysis focuses on how electricity tariffs affect household energy savings in addition to calculating the reduction in energy consumption achieved by light control devices. The dimming effect at different time schedule at a weekday and weekend scenarios are experimentally realized with Dali communication protocol. The consumed active power used for lighting energy (kWh) calculated for both fixed-rate tariff and Three-Tier Time-of-Use in Türkiye conditions.
