Özet

One of the session management functions in General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Network is the Connection Admission Control (CAC). It is performed during the Packet Data Protocol (PDP) context activation phase A CAC policy is normally defined in such a way that all traffic flows can be served in line with the negotiated Quality of Service (QoS) profiles. In the literature, researchers have developed several algorithms for QoS provision in GPRS networks some of which disrupt ongoing packets transmission. In this paper, we present a new methodology that precludes any disruption of ongoing packets transmission but also allows for priority allocation of available bandwidth. The methodology has been tested using QoS profile of some typical applications, and the results show that the proposed algorithm indeed has potentials for bandwidth optimization at any instance.
