Özet

FUNGOBASE is a retrospective, multicentric, observational study to determine the trends in antifungal drug treatment in 7 major hospitals in Turkey. Data was collected by a monitorized survey from the files of hospitalized patients in 2002. 583 episodes of 483 patients who had received an antifungal treatment were recorded. Answers to the questions such as the number of patients and episodes of invasive fungal infections, the underlying diseases, the antifungal agent, the localization of fungal infection, the duration of the treatment, the cumulative doses, the daily maximum doses, neutropenia and the antifungal treatment, the side effects related to antifungal agents, changing the antifungal drug with another (switch) and the mortality related to invasive fungal infection. These results represent the trends in antifungal treatment in Turkey. The FUNGOBASE study will be conducted prospectively, including more centers in Turkey in 2004.
