Renewable energy and environmental awareness and opinions: A survey of university students in Canada, Romania and Turkey revisited 16 years later

Özet

To explore the opinions and the level of awareness of university students in the fields of engineering and economics/business in Canada, Romania and Turkey on renewable energy and environment issues, surveys were conducted in 2007 in five universities in these three countries. The results were published in the International Journal of Green Energy. Over the past 16 years, the attention to environmental issues has escalated substantially in the media, university curricula as well as in social discourse. To gauge how opinions and awareness of students have changed over the past 16 years, the same survey was conducted in 2023 in three universities in the same three countries. The results of the 2007 and 2023 surveys are presented and compared. The results indicate that the awareness and opinions of university students in the three countries evolved positively.
