Binding Protein, Ktob Abdelmohsen, Editör, InTech, Rijeka, ss.49-72, 2012
For many years, there existed bias against peptides as pharmaceutical agents. The
application of breathtaking advances in genetic engineering and recombinant technology to
protein studies has changed this general mindset. Although the delivery of the peptides to
the target sites is considered as an important challenge, recent technological advances in
formulation, delivery and chemistry are underway to overcome this limitation. Peptide drugs
are gaining increased interest from the pharmaceutical industry and a large number of
peptide-based drugs are now being marketed. In this review design and development of
peptide based drugs that bind and inhibit some important protein targets are discussed.
