With its conquest on 25th August, 1461 by Fatih Sultan Mehmed, Trabzon has been transformed as an Ottoman district due to administrative regulation. By starting of the settlement of Muslim Turkish population in the city of Trabzon and its towns, some of non-Muslim population had been exiled to Istanbul and Rumelia in accordance to the records of the Ottoman Archive and the given information by the such-period-historians. It will be evaluated that policies and cases and reasons of decreasing and increasing of the population living in the district of Of (currently Of, Hayrat, Çaykara and towns of Dernekpazarı and some villages of Köprübaşı) which is belong to Trabzon. According to the community’s belief, there is a significant influence of Maraşlı Şeyh Osman Efendi and his brothers on Islamization of the district of Of. In this paper it will be evaluated of such impact’s level and what he and his children and grandchildren had worked on the location of where to be located in accordance to the archive records. In particular, it will be obtain where Maraşlı Şeyh Osman Efendi, his children and grandchildren had worked and what kinds of opportunities they had benefited, to which dervish lodges they had been and where such dervish lodges were. It will be discussed whether there is any impact of Maraşlı Şeyh Osman Efendi and his descendants on Islamization and Turkization of such region and which level of this impact.
