Özet

In this study, the concept of budget awareness is first addressed within a theoretical framework, followed by the findings of a survey conducted to determine the level of budget awareness among citizens in Türkiye. The sample includes one province with the highest population from each of the 12 regions determined according to the Turkish Statistical Institute's (TÜİK) NUTS Level 1 classification. The sample group consists of 1,003 eligible voters aged 18 and over. Frequency analyses of citizens' responses to survey questions revealed that, in general, citizens in Türkiye have insufficient awareness of the state budget. Differential analyses, on the other hand, have shown that budget awareness levels differ significantly across variables such as age, educational status, monthly income, and marital status. It has been determined that marital status and educational level are the variables that most significantly influence citizens' budget awareness, whereas gender does not.
