Her
This study deals with place, which is one of the most fundamental concepts in
geography. Although space has become the main concept in the geographical
discipline in recent years, place continues to exist as an important concept. Place
is a phenomenon to which we give meaning and at the same time from which
we draw meaning. Geographical analyses that do not take place into account
will be unsatisfactory and incomplete, considering that life exists together with
place. The earth and human beings do not exist separately from each other;
both continue their existence by being embedded in each other. In the study, the
philosophical hermeneutic approach was utilized to better understand and interpret
place in that the hermeneutic approach is mainly interpretation-centered and
focuses on understanding. It also employs language, lived experiences, history,
and the hermeneutic cycle in hermeneutic interpretation. Therefore, philosophical
hermeneutics has been the most important approach that has guided us in dealing
with the ontology and epistemology of place.
