Artificial intelligence (AI) has developed as a fundamental research topic in computer science. Although AI has been around for a while and has been used in a variety of sectors, oral medicine specialists must have a solid knowledge of AI ideas because oral mucosal diseases, with their abundance of clinical images, may emerge as the next big thing in the utilization of artificial intelligence in medicine. Several AI studies have previously been conducted on oral diseases such as oral cancer and oral mucosal diseases (oral lichen planus, leukoplakia). This chapter provides an overview of AI and recent breakthroughs in oral mucosal lesions, focusing on both current uses and future possibilities.
