Özet

Mordanting process with sodium tetraborate decahydrate appears as a method applied to woods before
varnishing nowadays. However, mordanting application on textile materials is very limited. This study is
designed to examine the effect of the concentration of Sodium Tetraborate Decahydrate on color behavior and
fastness in the dyeing of silk fabrics with Luteolin dyestuff. Luteolin Salvia officinalis L. is the only dyestuff
found in salvia officinalis plant. Sodium Tetraborate Decahydrate was tested in 21 different concentrations in
co-mordanting method with mordant-free and between %0 and %20 changing. Similar consequences were
acquired in terms of color differences, light washing, staining and friction fastness with a range of 4-5. The
most obvious and significant change in dyeing using borax mordant occurred in Lab values, and it was
determined that the color became lighter as borax mordant increased.
