Abstract

Brain tumor is a dangerous type of cancer. Brain tumors can be extremely fatal in advanced stages, and incorrect diagnosis and treatment methods can reduce the possibility of recovery for patients. Detection of brain tumors using machine learning methods has recently emerged as an important research area. In this study, a VGG16-based deep learning model was applied to the brain tumor dataset obtained from Kaggle, and the classification of glioma, meningioma, pituitary tumor, and tumor-free brain MRI images was performed. The results obtained seem to exceed the performance of studies conducted with the same dataset in the literature.
