Numerical modeling is now an essential part of electrical engineering education. This paper reviews electrostatic field distribution (EM) using the finite element method (FEM) programming language Mathematica 6.0 and MATLAB. The results from the two different programs were tested using the finite difference method (FD). Computer programs and formulations of the finite element technique have been constructed to make the concept more understandable and explicit for engineering students and practicing engineers.
