Abstract

The introduction chapter begins by presenting the background and context of the book, outlining the purpose it aims to achieve. It defines the subject matter and structure of the book, which comprises 12 chapters written as part of a project on the comparison of Slovenian and Turkish laws concerning mechanisms for the settlement of cultural property disputes. This project was conducted under the Bilateral Cooperation Protocol between the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) and the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS). While the project provides the foundation, the chapters explore a broader range of topics, addressing international, regional, and national perspectives on cultural property protection. Given that the contributing authors come from diverse disciplines including law, archaeology, and commissions responsible for the return of cultural artefacts the introduction also discusses the varied terminology and interdisciplinary approaches present throughout the book.
