The influences of ultrasonic dyeing on color values, color fastness and tensile properties of
PBT yarns were assessed by comparing the conventional dyeing method. The darker colors
were generally achieved by conventional dyeing with more saturated colors. Because of the
lower color strengths of ultrasonic dyed PBT yarns, unacceptable color and hue differences
were obtained according to commercial tolerances. The color fastness results to washing of
conventional and ultrasonic dyed PBT yarns were almost same. Ultrasonic energy reduced the
elongation of PBT yarns while the tensile strengths of both ultrasonic and conventional dyed
samples were similar.
