In this work, the blends of 50/50% and 20/80% polyester/cotton knitted fabrics were bleached with hydrogen peroxide by the techniques including ozone gas, ultrasonic energy and microwave energy. The combined process of ozone gas with the ultrasonic energy was also employed. The whiteness degrees of the bleached samples were evaluated by spectrophotometric methods. The bursting strength test was also carried out to investigate the effect of each process on the materials. The best results were obtained by the microwave processes, and the MW process at 80°C for 10 min. gave a similar whiteness value compared to 45 min. peroxide bleaching process.
