The headline ornament of the Manichaean illuminated manuscript number MIK III 6368 is analyzed in this presentation. MIK III 6368 is one of the most famous manuscripts with impressive illuminations on both sides. On the verso side of the manuscript, the headline has a conspicuous floral decoration and a miniature. The decoration continues above and below the headline and conjoins the miniature as one unit. The floral decoration has different growth phases of probably one flower: flower buds, half-open flowers, full-blown flowers, and blue and green colored leaves. This paper presents the design of the headline decoration, the major elements of the ornament, and the painting technique. Furthermore, the painting technique of the manuscript MIK III 6368 is compared with some other Islamic illuminated manuscripts from the later centuries in the final chapter.
