In Diyarbakir, Turkey, there is a type of primitive pottery, known as "earth oven" or "Tandir" which is still used in the suburbs and remote villages of the region. The purpose of this article is to provide a detailed description relating to each step of the production of this earth oven that is traditionally known as an "occupation undertaken by women".
