Abstract

Consanguineous marriage is still very common in Turkey (ca. 21%); therefore, genetic counselling has special importance. However, its rate differs between developed or developing districts, urban or rural areas, and according to educational attainment. In high educational levels, in urban areas, and in developed districts of the country it is on the decrease.
