Data
were acquired from 85 ready wear business enterprises that were member to the
İstanbul Unions of Ready Wear and Ready-Made Exporters (İURRE) via
questionnaire for the purpose of investigating the knowledge and practice expectations
of Ready Wear business enterprises from Vocational High School (VHS) Wear Manufacturing
graduates to be employed. As a result of the data analysis, it was concluded
that having professional knowledge like determining fabrics and their
properties, product quality and appropriate pattern techniques for clothes was
among the important criteria for ready wear business enterprises, whereas
knowing clothe adornment techniques and materials, maintenance-repairment of
machines and devices used in wear manufacturing and simple breakdown of
machines was among the less important criteria. It was also concluded that
having a tendency to team work, paying attention to the relations with
colleagues and superiors and distinguishing the fabrics from each other were
among the important criteria in terms of the expectations of business enterprises
from the application of professional knowledge, whereas trying to implement the
innovations in Wear Manufacturing (like new machines, equipments) into the
business and applying professional knowledge like working on the appropriate wear
adornment techniques and removing simple breakdown of machines and devices were
among the important criteria.
