Although research and assessment of the clinical effects of psychotropic drugs dates back to early periods of human history, it has gained its momentum and significance during last half century. In the last 20 years this research has been systematized and made safer. In this article, the significance of the clinical effectiveness of psychotropic drugs, how should the difficulties encountered in the practice be overcome, and what should be done, and emphasis on the common mistakes conducted are discussed. We wish to provide more insights for researchers in this field into these problems by reviewing this subject.
