Teknolojinin hızlı gelişimi, istihdamı da etkilemektedir. Bu duruma bağlı
olarak özellikle teknik program bazında uygulanan üniversite müfredatlarının
güncellenmesi ve güncellenen müfredatın başarıya olan etkisinin araştırılması
gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada hızlı nüfus artışıyla dünyanın büyük şehirlerinden
biri olan İstanbul ilinde öğrenim gören teknikerlere uygulanan öğretim müfredatındaki
değişimin öğrenci başarısına olan etkilerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.
Bu kapsamda Marmara Üniversitesi Elektronik ve Otomasyon Bölümünün ikinci
öğretim Elektronik Haberleşme Teknolojisi programında öğrenim görmüş 41
öğrenciye 38 maddelik başarısızlık nedenleri anketi uygulanmıştır. Daha sonra
başarısızlık nedenleri tespit edilmiştir. Betimsel istatiksel yöntemle frekans analizi
yapılarak taranan anket sonuçlarından en yüksek frekans değerine sahip maddeler
belirlenmiştir. Maddeler incelendiğinde bir istihdam problemi olduğunu
düşünen ve okuldaki yoğunluktan şikâyet eden öğrencilerin başarı oranlarının
düşük olduğu bu duruma bağlı olarak öğretim görevlilerinden de destek bekledikleri
ortaya çıkmıştır. Sonuç olarak mesleki öğretim gören öğrencilerin başarı
ve motivasyonlarının arttırılmasına yönelik olarak; okul içinde yaparak ve iş hayatına
alışarak öğrenebilmesi için organize sanayi bölgelerinde mesleki ve teknik
eğitim veren yüksekokulların kurulması ve bu okulların yaygınlaştırılması, nitelikli
teknikerlerin yetiştirilmesi için bir öneri olarak sunulmuştur.
