Özet
One of the major challenges hindering the practical application of NiZn batteries is the structural degradation of the Ni-based cathode during repeated charge-discharge processes, which significantly shortens the cycle life. In this study, copper (Cu) doping is employed to enhance the structural and electrochemical stability of the nickel-based cathode active material. A series of heterostructured cathode materials, CuxNi1-x(OH)2 (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, and 0.3), are synthesized via a co-precipitation method. Electrochemical measurements demonstrate that the prepared cathode materials exhibit reversible redox behavior and excellent electrochemical performance. Compared to the β-Ni(OH)2//Zn battery, the β-Cu0.2Ni0.8(OH)2//Zn battery delivers a 38% higher discharge capacity at current densities of 0.5 and 1.0 A g−1. Furthermore, the capacity retention improves markedly from 20.9% to 63.6% after 500 charge-discharge cycles. The β-Cu0.2Ni0.8(OH)2 cathode maintains stable operation even at a high areal loading of 44 mg cm−2. The Cu0.2Ni0.8(OH)2//Zn cell achieves an energy density of 375.1 Wh kg−1 (based on the mass of the cathode active material) and an areal energy density of 16.6 mWh cm−2 at a power density of 865.8 W kg−1 and an areal power density of 38.3 mW cm−2.These findings indicate that the incorporation of Cu2+ ions into the Ni(OH)2 cathode significantly enhances the charge-discharge capacity, cycling stability, and rate capability, demonstrating its strong potential for high-performance NiZn batteries.
