Because
of the adverse effect of Ultraviolet Radiation (UVR) on human health, the
demand for the garments having UV protection property is very much increased
recently. In this work, a commercial UV absorber, namely Tinofast CEL (Ciba)
was applied at different amounts during the reactive dyeing process, and then,
the extent of UV protection property of the fabrics was investigated.
Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) values of the fabrics were calculated in
accordance with the AS/NZS 4399:1996 standard, using the transmittance values
of the fabrics from 290 nm to 400 nm wavelength range. Washing fastness tests
